Self-doubt, how does that word land with you?
We have all probably experienced self-doubt at some point in our lives, and what we can affirm is that with self-doubt, everything becomes much more difficult and sometimes even impossible. Self-doubt extinguishes many visions and dreams and is often the biggest reason why we don’t succeed in what we desire.
Let’s imagine a scenario where you want to change careers and do something completely different from what you're doing right now. With self-doubt, you will create problems before they even arise, and obstacles will loom before you. Instead of seeing opportunities and solutions, you start to feel fear about what might go wrong. You can’t see your own strength or potential, which means you don’t take the first steps to change your situation. Instead, you stay still, stuck in the thought of what could go wrong, instead of focusing on the positive things you can do to get where you want to go.
It’s so easy to get caught in thoughts of not being enough. But what if you could replace self-doubt with self-confidence? Think of all the times you’ve already overcome challenges in your life, even when you didn’t believe in yourself at the time. We humans are incredibly strong, we have more power and capability than we often realize.
So how can you break this vicious cycle of self-doubt?
The first step is to become aware of what self-doubt does to you and your future. When you doubt yourself, you hold yourself back from acting on your dreams and goals. That’s why it’s so important to start questioning these negative thoughts and replace them with positive affirmations that boost your self-esteem.
Think like this:
Every time self-doubt creeps in, remind yourself that you have everything you need to take the next step. You’ve already fought through tough times, and you’ve learned valuable lessons along the way. For every challenge you face, you grow and strengthen your ability to handle life.
Build your self-esteem:
One way to start strengthening your self-esteem is by setting small, achievable goals. When you achieve these goals, even the small ones, your confidence increases, and you learn to trust that you can achieve what you set out to do. It’s not about being perfect, but about taking small steps in the right direction.
